I.M. Skaugen established its formal presence in China in 1995. Prior to this the company has pioneered ethylene transportation to/from China being the first ever company to do this - and we as a company also was the first to pioneer passenger cruise business on China in the mid 1980's.
Our various businesses in China are now organized under Skaugen (China) Holding Company. Established in Shanghai in January 2008, this company acts as our regional centre, as well as providing effective management of our Chinese operations through a range of corporate services and knowledge resources. Skaugen (China) Holding Company is also responsible for new business opportunities and coordinating Chinese services that bring synergies and long-term value to the wider I.M. Skaugen Group. This operation combines the best in western skills and know-how with local knowledge and experience - core components for success in China
